The Parkstone branch became Trew Eyecare in 2016.  Offering a wider variety of services at competitive prices, whilst retaining the skilled, experienced staff team and remaining a community hub.  Duncan Trew worked for Knight Eyecare for a number of years before becoming Director of Trew Eyecare, allowing a seamless transition.

Knight Eyecare in Westbourne and Ferndown are now working alongside Trew Eyecare and we are very proud of the friendly, individually focused and high standard of care we offer.

In addition to sight tests and health screening, we stock a diverse range of designer and budget frames and supply competitively priced contact lens products.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Sight Tests

Health, comfort, good vision

We take pride in the service and care we offer our patients. Sight tests include free retinal photography and a 30-40 minute consultation with one of our regular resident optometrists, allowing you consistency of care with a familiar face. Please call and make an appointment.  We look forward to welcoming you.

Our aim is to ensure you have the best, most comfortable vision. We take the time to listen to your needs and provide you with a personalised recommendation to keep your eyes in great health. If required, we offer a wide range of frames and contact lenses to ensure a comfortable fit in a style to suit. We carry a large selection of designer and own brand frames to suit all tastes and budgets.

Glaucoma testing is also included as part of the sight test.  Did you know that if you are over 40 years of age and the parent, child or sibling of a person with glaucoma then you are entitled to a FREE NHS sight test?

General health conditions such as high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes and liver problems may be detected during a sight test, so regular checks are a form of maintaining good health, as well as ensuring comfortable vision.

NHS Sight tests are FREE at set intervals if you are:

* Under 16

* Under 19 and in full time education

* Over 60

* Named on a valid HC2 certificate

* In receipt of benefits such as; Income Support, Income based job seekers allowance, Income related Employment and Support Allowance, Pension Credit guarantee credit or Tax Credit and named on a valid NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate

* Registered blind or partially sighted with the Local Authority

* Have diabetes or glaucoma

* Over 40 and the child or sibling of someone with glaucoma

* Prescribed complex lenses under the NHS optical voucher scheme

Private Sight Tests are £30 including digital retinal photography and glaucoma check.

An Enhanced Sight Test is also available at our Westbourne branch an additional cost of £35.  This includes the OCT health check, which looks at each layer of the eye in 3D and can aid in the early identification of underlying health conditions, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.  The Enhanced Sight Test requires an additional 15 minute appointment time to the standard test.

Individual, Unhurried, Experienced Dispensing

We offer a wide variety of designer and budget frames to suit all tastes and pockets.  We enjoy taking the time to match you with your perfect frame, and hope to ensure you enjoy the experience of selecting your glasses with us.

Because we believe everyone should see as well as possible, all of our clear lenses come with reflection free and scratch resistant coatings as standard*, and all our prices show the cost of the frame with single vision lenses.  Upgrades to bifocal, or varifocal are available, as are transition lenses which allow your everyday glasses to act as sunglasses in bright conditions.

We aim to be competitive with our pricing, and also offer a great standard of customer service.  We have a very experienced, long standing staff team, and we will take the time to find you your perfect product.  We can source items from a wide selection of suppliers, should you have something specific in mind not currently in stock.

Come in and have a browse and a chat, let us know how we can help you.

*Certain exclusions may apply. Ask staff for details.
